Description
There are many benefits to be gained by organizations from the use of cloud services for their business. These include, cost and resource savings, greater scalability, fast and easy access to data, file storage, Big Data analytics, data backups, disaster-recovery and many more. However, cloud services, as with many other technology-based business solutions, come with risks which need to be managed and mitigated against. Hence Cloud security is without doubt a key issue across all market sectors and for many businesses, governments and society in general. Providing effective security for cloud services is essential for today’s dynamic and fast-changing world of business and the growing pace of cyber-attacks. The standard ISO/IEC 27017 addresses the issue of cloud security, and is based on the high-profile standard ISO/IEC 27002. Together these standards define many essential and crucial controls and guidelines for protecting the use and provisioning of cloud services and the mitigation of cyber risks. These standards are useful to both CSCs (cloud service customers) and CSPs (cloud service providers). The use of these standards can help to provide the necessary assurance and confidence to interested parties that the organization’s risks related to cloud services are being effectively mitigated. This workshop will explore the experiences of professionals that have several years practical knowledge of using and applying cloud security and these international standards. The workshop will also discuss some key take-away topics for users of these standards, in light also of the update of ISO/IEC 27017 standard like risk management and controls, secure access and storage, disaster recovery and other areas of concern. There will be a usage and experience survey and discussion. This is intended to be a lively and informative webinar.
